Police in Lusaka have dispelled reports suggesting that a woman purported to be from Serenje district of Central Province, crash landed in Garden Compound of Lusaka district, yesterday.
Zambia Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo stated in a statement issued to ZANIS that the woman in question is not a witch.
Ms Katongo explained that the suspect stays with her daughter in Lusaka’s Northmead area, and has a history of occasional memory losses.
She said the woman normally wanders about after sneaking out from home and police are usually at hand to take her home.
Ms Katongo said officers at Central Police know her residence and that relatives of the said woman have since been notified.
In the early hours of Sunday October 08 2017, a resident of Garden Compound Rose Mumba, in the company of her neighbour Prospelina Mwelwa, discovered the said woman in her yard around 03:00 hours, despite her premises being locked.
Quick action by G4 security officers who were in the area, saved the woman from mob justice and rushed her to Garden Police Post.
