Community Development, Mother and Child Health Minister Joseph Katema has told QFM News in an interview that this follows the increase in the global demand for the vaccine.
Dr. Katema says efforts are being made by government to have the vaccine, adding that Zambia has been prioritized for supply within September 2013.
He has since appealed to all healthcare providers to ensure that all children who have missed their scheduled doses are immunized as soon as the consignments are received.
He is hopeful that the current situation will be normalized as soon as possible.
Dr. Katema has since called on parents and guardians to ensure that they take their infants and children for under five so that they can receive the planned vaccines once the vaccine is available.
