Matero roads rehab nears completion
THE construction of township roads in Matero Constituency is nearing completion with area Member of Parliament (MP) Miles Sampa urging people in the area to drive cautiously and avoid road traffic accidents.
Speaking in an interview yesterday, Mr Sampa said the Patriotic Front (PF)’s vision of tarring and upgrading all township roads was on course and that Matero’s major roads had all been done together with the drainage system.
He said currently road constructors were working on the Chambeshi and Muchinga roads which had already been tarred, adding that the last phase would be completed in a few weeks.
Mr Sampa said apart from tarring all the major roads in Matero, other works which were expected in his constituency were the upgrading of other township roads in Lilanda and George townships.
“In Matero we do not to keep on talking as results are surfacing and all those doubting should see current construction works in the area particularly the newly tarred Chambeshi and Muchinga roads, and we are now moving to other roads in Lilanda and George townships,” said Mr Sampa.
Mr Sampa said his office was happy with all the construction works that had been done by various road contractors because they were following the guidelines given to them.
He said Matero was known for its flooding due to the poor drainage system but with the constractors abiding by their guidelines, the area would not experience flooding once the roads and drainage sytem were completed.
And on-the-spot check found workers from Plinth Technical Works Limited working on Muchinga Road after completing works on Salima, Zambezi and Chambeshi which needed last touches.
Plinth Technical Works Limited contracts manager Msanide Ndhlovu said works were going on well.
