TIZ hails PF graft fight
TIZ executive director Goodwell Lungu said in an interview that the dedication Government demonstrated in the fight against graft last year cannot go unnoticed.
“We have noted with satisfaction that the Patriotic Front (PF) Government is committed to fighting against corruption especially after some of notable decisions were made by President Michael Sata last year,” he said.
Mr Lungu said among the notable decisions was the reinstatement of the abuse of office clause which was removed from the Anti-Corruption Act by the then ruling party MMD.
He also cited the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Auditor General’s office as a major stride taken by the PF Government in strengthening the fight against corruption.
Mr Lungu said President Sata’s decision to allow law enforcement agencies investigate senior Government officials suspected to be involved in corruption was also a notable development.
He thus pledged that TIZ would continue to provide checks and balances in order to ensure the Government was on track in eradicating corruption.
