Zambian Musician Alubusu in fatal accident
MUSICIAN Alubusu, real name Albert Silwimba, has died in a road accident near Mongu. Alubusu died on the spot on the Mongu-Kalabo Road.
Zambia Police assistant public relations officer Esther Mwata Katongo confirmed in an interview that the accident happened between 23:00hrs on Friday night and 03:00hrs yesterday morning at Miulwe area, some 35 kilometres from Mongu.
“He was driving a BMW registration number ALE 8235 and was the sole passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident,” Mrs Katongo said.
Mrs Katongo said the accident happened due to excessive speed which led the driver to lose control of the motor vehicle after he failed to negotiate a curve and veered off the road.
Alubusu’s body is lying in the Lewanika General Hospital morgue.
Alubusu, discovered by Nexus Studios, took Zambia by storm with his one song wonder Bwera pa Nyumba. Since then his music exploits have waned.
And in another incident, Police in Mongu impounded a Volvo truck, registration number AAL 1951 which was found carrying copper with fake documents and no police clearance.
Mrs Katongo said four people were detained in connection with the incident, among them, a foreign national.
The truck was coming from the North-Western Province, according to a statement given to the police by the driver of the truck and the copper it was carrying has been sent to the Mongu meteorological department to ascertain its weight.
