Govt’s move on RSZ issue bold

THE recent directive by President Sata to the newly appointed Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba to deal with the Rail Systems of Zambia (RSZ) concession saga is a bold move.

This outstanding matter should be given the urgency it deserves because the people of Zambia through the former MMD government were given a raw deal over an institution which is solely theirs.

The earlier the better as the unclear deal has thrown propsective passengers as well as small-scale farmers living in farm blocs along the line of rail, in disarray.

North-Western Railway line an asset

STILL on the railways, the planned North-Western railway line project is a very important asset not only to the country but to the region as well, especially if it receives full support from all the stakeholders.

The economic benefits are immense as it will link the port of Lobito on the Atlantic in Angola through the Benguela corridor.

Therefore, invitations by ZEMA for comments on the environmental impact assessment report on the contruction of the railway project is welcome as this will also help to create more jobs.

Pursue Indeni Saga to the end

DEVELOPMENTS at Indeni Petroleum Refinery in Ndola where there is alleged corruption in the procurement system should be pursued up to the end.

Investigative wings which are already on the ground should ensure that they don’t leave any stone unturned to tell the truth about the whole saga. / Times of Zambia
