Former vice-president George Kunda in Intensive Care Unit
And UTH director Dr Lackson Kasonka confirmed that Kunda was admitted overnight on Tuesday, but could not disclose what the former vice president was suffering from.
Sources within UTH disclosed that Kunda was admitted at UTH’s Intensive Care Unit where movements of people, in and out, have since been restricted.
In an interview, Dr Kasonka confirmed that Kunda went to be checked on Tuesday by the doctors and was later admitted.
“He came on Tuesday at lunch time, he called that h e needed to be checked. We admitted him overnight yesterday Tuesday. I think he might be discharged today Wednesday… I am not sure, I have to go and consult with his doctors.
He was kept overnight that’s what I was told when I arrived this morning Wednesday,” Dr Kasonka said.
Asked what the problem was, Dr Kasonka responded: “I cannot divulge into that, I don’t know whether he is still here or not, so I would not know all those details. I will find out from the doctor and I could get back to you.”
But efforts to get back to Dr Kasonka and UTH public relations manager Pauline Mbangweta proved futile as their phones went unanswered.
Kunda’s mobile phone was answered by a lady who said he was not free at that moment and when asked what time he was likely to be available, the lady said she would inform him Kunda that this reporter had called./POST ZAMBIA
