Renard tips Mbola to succeed

CHIPOLOPOLO coach Herve Renard has tipped left-back Emmanuel Mbola (left) to succeed at Portuguese giants FC Porto.

Mbola, who joined Porto on loan from TP Mazembe this year, is currently attached to the team’s Under-20 side.

Renard advised Mbola to remain confident so that he would be able to convince the Porto technical bench to play in the first team.

“You know how I estimate Emmanuel Mbola, I’m sure he just needs time to show the people over there that he is able to play for the professional team. I’m sure he will play very soon for the professional team,” Renard said.

He said given a chance, Mbola would play an important role for Porto as much as he would for Chipolopolo.

Meanwhile Renard said it was important that Chipolopolo exhibits the same spirit displayed at the recent Africa Cup if they were to qualify for both next year’s tournament and the 2014 World Cup.

He said Group D for the World Cup qualifiers was tough and needed total commitment from the players.

Group D consists of Ghana, Sudan, Lesotho and Zambia.

“Our group is tough. The most important thing is to be proud to champions of Africa but also to forget when we step on the pitch. We have to be efficient for the qualification of the World Cup and we have to qualify for the next Africa Cup in 2013,” he said.

“We just have to work like we worked before. The spirit was fantastic but if we lose this spirit, we won’t be a good team.”/POST ZAMBIA
