Zambia One Comedy is this year set to produce DVDs related to its countrywide tour which starts tonight at Capitol Theatre in Livingstone.
The outfit’s managing director Joemwa Mwale told the Weekend Post in an interview after a brainstorming and planning workshop held at Nsimbi Yanga Lodge in Lusaka’s Matero township on Saturday, that the group’s programme will run quarterly.
“The tour starts on the 28th (tonight) in Livingstone, and then move to other towns in the 1st quarter covering Mansa, Kitwe, Mufulira, Mongu, Kabwe, and Lusaka,” Jomwa said. He adds that the tour will be supported by the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation, among others.
“ZNBC has come on board and we are so grateful, and Nsimbi Yanga has also supported us. We still need sponsorship, although I should mention that some transport companies such as Euro Africa Bus services, Mazhyandu Family Bus and Jordan Motors came on board to help us which is a good thing,” he said.
Jomwa added that the group which has incorporated new productions is planning to release its first DVD by the end of the first quarter.
“We have new items (productions) on the table such as Last Minute, new version of Kitchen Parties, Donchi Kubeba, Nkani ya levy – specifically to educate the people on the importance of television levy – among others,” he says.
“We are producing two to three video comedies which will be ready for sale by March this year and people should hope for originality from Zambia One comedy as usual,” said Jomwa.
